Job Title: Disability Assessor

Location: Portsmouth

Salary: £32,000 per annum (pro rata)

Hours: Part Time, 4 days per week (No Nights/Weekends/Bank Holidays)

Contract Type: Permanent

We are currently seeking Registered Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists or Paramedics to work for a leading UK health provider.

As part of the Government’s new welfare reform agenda, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have introduced a new benefit called the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) which has replaced the old Disability Living Allowance (DLA). PIP is designed to better reflect today’s understanding of disability and is focused on helping with the extra costs disabled people face.

As a Disability Assessor you will assess patients who wish to claim Personal Independence payment. This will involve:

– Using your clinical and evidence based knowledge to discover if a claimant has any underlying physical or mental health conditions

– Engaging with claimants on a personal level to understand exactly how their disability affects them on a day to day basis

– Write a full succinct report on your findings that will be send to the DWP

In order to be considered for the role you will need to:

– Be a qualified Nurse, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Paramedic registered with your relevant professional body (NMC/HCPC)

– Have a wide knowledge of a variety of physical and mental health conditions

– Have excellent typing skills

– Have a minimum of two years post registration experience
