Will Bailiffs Force Entry Into My Home?
Bailiffs can only forcibly enter your residence as a last option. They cannot do so without a legitimate court order from the local government or a debt collector.
Before doing so, the bailiff must provide you with a seven-day written notice and cannot enter your home between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
If you suspect that there was a violation of regulations throughout this process, you should seek assistance from a Citizens Advice consumer service.
A bailiff must never use physical force or harass you in any way. You may also ask them to leave at any moment, provided they are not seeking to seize property. If you feel endangered by their presence, you must immediately contact the police.
