Old Mill is a Chartered Financial Planning firm that works with individuals and businesses.

Advising on later life matters

We know that each person we work with has their own aims and ambitions, their own approach to wealth and financial security, and their own plans for later life.

People are generally living longer than ever before and later life can bring deterioration in health and loss of independence, not to mention the issues that arise with how to fund the cost of care.

That’s why we have invested in a dedicated Later Life team, with specialist knowledge and first-hand experience working within this area. Our role is to make sure that whatever requirements you have for later life – whether for yourself or for a family member – the financial measures are in place to make sure all of those requirements are met.

We tailor our Later Life service so it is unique to you, your aspirations and requirements.

Our dedicated team can help with guidance on:

  • Who is responsible for your welfare and provision of your care needs
  • Who is responsible for funding the required care
  • Where to go for assistance if you want to stay living at home
  • What the general procedures are to be assessed and have a care package provided
  • How to plan the financial aspects to optimise the use of the financial resources when planning your care needs
  • How to plan to ensure you will always be able to pay for the care you require, or at least allow the money to last as long as possible
  • How assets can be used to pay for care and structured to assist in leaving inheritance
  • Inheritance tax worries and how this can be reduced
  • Releasing capital locked into your home to help pay for care or other planning needs, including understanding Local Authority Deferred Payment arrangements, which are a form of equity release
