Choosing the right care setting for ourselves or a relative is not something which many of us have much experience of.
There will be plenty of things for you to consider which may feel a little overwhelming. You may have had little or no information to help you make the right decisions. Whether it’s for you or a loved one, arranging the best quality of care in the right setting will be your priority.
Axis Financial Planning is very much a family business, with over 30 years experience in Financial Services. We see our key role is to ensure that individuals and families have first class advice. This advice is tailored to each person’s circumstances, to ensure that families are fully informed when it comes to paying for care.
At Axis, we are pleased to say that we have SOLLA (Society of Later Life Advisers) accredited advisers who can provide you with all of your options and ensure that you can understand the possible solutions to meet the care fees whilst maximising the legacy for the family.
SOLLA is a not-for-profit organisation, created in 2008, to meet the need of consumers, advisers and those who provide financial products and services to the Later Life market. The Society’s aim is to ensure that consumers are better informed about the financial issues of later life and can find a fully accredited adviser like Axis quickly and easily. They also ensure that all the advisers have fully satisfied all criteria to become an accredited adviser.
This means peace of mind and assurance that the advice you are given is from an adviser who has proved they have specialist knowledge of the sector.
Paying for care can be one of the most expensive commitments many families ever have to make, yet there is very little formal help and advice available. We aim to help you avoid the many pitfalls.
Over the years, care fees can quickly mount up and often this can have a depleting effect on available funds. No one wants an individual’s entire wealth to be spent on care fees, yet often it is not until the money runs out that they discover they did in fact have choices.
Throughout our lives we are accustomed to seeking professional advice for financial decisions such as mortgages and pensions, and care fees planning is equally important.
We will help you to understand
- the care system and how it works
- the benefits system and whether you are claiming what you are entitled
- your responsibilities and your duties under a Power of Attorney
- the role of your local authority and their responsibilities
- the care and financial assessments
- your choices regarding property
- what to do if you feel that care should be paid for by the NHS
- the care contract and its implications
- the choices you have in relation to paying for care
